Dr. Kevin Ung is a dedicated physical therapist committed to enhancing his patients' quality of life through personalized care. His interest in physical therapy began at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. A leg fracture that left him wheelchair-bound for two months before physical therapy school gave him unique insight and empathy for those undergoing rehabilitation. Driven by this experience and a passion for helping patients achieve their health goals, Dr. Ung pursued a career in physical therapy, co-founding UMG Physical Therapy with his colleague and family member, Jeffery Ung, PTA. Together, they are focused on creating individualized care plans that support each patient’s recovery and improved function.
Dr. Ung completed a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2010. Motivated by personal experience and a desire to support others in recovery, he earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Hampton University in 2017. He has continued to expand his skills through certifications and specialized training. Dr. Ung is certified in dry needling and has advanced training in techniques such as myofascial release, Mulligan and Maitland mobilization methods, and runner’s rehabilitation.
Dr. Ung’s professional skills include thorough patient evaluation, customized treatment planning, and hands-on manual therapy for musculoskeletal issues. He is skilled in therapeutic exercise programs, postural and movement analysis, and pain management strategies, allowing him to create highly individualized care plans. His clinical experience covers post-surgical recovery, neurological disorders, orthopedic injuries, geriatric care, and sports-related conditions. With a particular focus on athletes, he is dedicated to helping them achieve peak performance through evidence-based practices that build resilience, reduce the risk of re-injury, and improve function. Dr. Ung also has extensive leadership experience, having held clinical and administrative roles in hospital care, skilled nursing facilities, and outpatient clinics, where he collaborated closely with other healthcare providers to deliver comprehensive patient care.
Outside work, Dr. Ung enjoys hiking, exploring the outdoors, and spending quality time with family and friends. He also likes to take on new hobbies that challenge him and bring fresh experiences. As the co-founder of UMG Physical Therapy, he remains dedicated to advancing patient care and supporting his community's well-being.
⭐ Truly Life-Changing Care ⭐My mom had back surgery last year and struggled to find the right PT support. We found UMG by chance at urgent care, and it’s been a blessing ever since. Kevin, Stephanie (urgent care) and the entire team treat her like family, giving her one-on-one attention and encouragement that’s helping her walk and regain her strength again. We’re beyond grateful for the kindness, patience, and care they’ve shown—highly recommend UTG to anyone who wants a PT team that truly cares. ❤️
UMG PT is top notch! They helped treat my hip injury I sustained during marathon training. I am no longer in pain and am ready for my race! They are super friendly and knowledgable. I highly recommend them! Thanks Kevin and Jeff!
Awesome Experience - Kevin and Jeffery are, in my opinion, the best physical therapists in Maryland. They truly care about how you feel and take the time to understand exactly where your pain is. I also love that they spend quality time with you during each visit and stay focused on helping you feel better.
Okay, so, a long time ago in August 2025, I woke up with excruciating neck pain. I was unable to turn my head and sleeping it off didn’t fix the issue. I went to UMG Urgent Care (also an amazing experience) and Stephanie told me that I would benefit from physical therapy to work through the neck pain. She recommended the physical therapy they had on site, and the rest is history.I cannot emphasize this enough; if there is an even an inkling that you might need physical therapy, please go to UMG Physical Therapy. Jeffery and Kevin are both so kind, funny, knowledgeable, and really help you work through and understand what’s causing the pain and how their exercises will help resolve the issue. Also, did you know that flat-footedness is fixable? No? Just me? Well, I learned that while I was here!I originally went in for neck pain, and then went to them for knee strength training so I was there for a good, long while. And let me tell you, I am not an early bird whatsoever. But the environment and staff are so amazing that I was always happy and ready to go to my morning sessions that I attended *before* work— that’s how great they are. And the routines they teach you really make a difference; if my neck or legs start acting up, I do the stretches and I’m good to go!Kevin and Jeffery are both super easy to talk to and they really pay attention to the patients on both the medical side and the personal side. They’d ask followup questions about my weekend outings or physical discomfort I had been experiencing the week prior. Considering that I was doing new stretches in front of essentially strangers every week, they make you feel right at home as you do it.TL;DR: if you e v e r need to go to Physical Therapy, no question, you have to go here. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
I arrived with sciatica pain 4 weeks ago, and Dr. Ung immediately knew a plan that would properly diagnose and treat. The exercise plan was gradual but very effective with the added dry needling and heating. My sciatica pain and lower back has felt the best it had all year, and now I can roll in to 2026 with a healthy start.
